Liberation Email and Hub for Teams mailboxes use the same mail server and the same login, so these steps work whether your mailbox is on a Hub for Teams plan or a standalone Liberation Email (Email Pro) plan.

This guide covers the Outlook mobile app on iPhone/iPad and Android, which has a different setup flow from the built-in iOS Mail app or the Android Gmail app. If you'd rather use your phone's built-in mail app, see How to set up Liberation Email on your phone or computer (IMAP/SMTP settings) instead.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • Your full email address (e.g. [email protected])
  • Your mailbox password (your Hub for Teams password, or your Email Pro mailbox password)
  • The Outlook app installed from the App Store or Google Play

Tip: If you're not sure your password still works, sign in first at hubforteams.com (Hub plans) or mail.liberation.email (Email Pro plans) to confirm it before setting up the app.

Add the account in the Outlook app

  1. Open the Outlook app. If this is your first account, tap Get Started; otherwise tap your profile picture or initials in the top left, then the Settings gear, then Add Account > Add Email Account.
  2. Type your full email address and tap Continue (or Add Account).
  3. Outlook will try to sign you in automatically. Since this isn't a Microsoft or Google account, it may ask for your password directly, or it may show a screen listing other providers — look for and tap IMAP if you're given a choice.
  4. Enter your password when prompted.
  5. If Outlook shows an advanced/manual settings screen (it won't always), enter:
    • Incoming (IMAP) server: mail.liberation.email, Port 993
    • Outgoing (SMTP) server: mail.liberation.email, Port 465
    • Username: your full email address
  6. Tap Sign In / Next to finish. Outlook will add the account and start syncing your mail.
Incoming server (IMAP) Outgoing server (SMTP)
Port 993 465
Encryption SSL/TLS SSL/TLS

The exact screens and wording can vary between app versions and between iOS and Android — if a step looks slightly different on your phone, use the settings above wherever it asks for a mail server, port or encryption type.

Troubleshooting

  • The app won't accept your email/password and won't offer a manual setup screen: delete the account from Settings > Add Account and try again, making sure you type the address correctly; if it still won't let you in manually, use your phone's built-in mail app instead (see the general setup guide linked above) which gives a reliable manual IMAP option.
  • Outlook keeps asking for your password: your password was likely changed elsewhere (Hub or webmail). Remove and re-add the account with the current password.
  • You can receive mail but can't send: double check the account was added as IMAP and not POP, and that you're using your full email address as the username.
  • Still not working: confirm the password by signing in on the web — Hub plans at hubforteams.com, Email Pro plans at mail.liberation.email. If that also fails, reset your password (see How to log in to Liberation Email / Hub for Teams and reset your password).

Calendar and contacts sync separately from mail and aren't covered by these steps — see How to sync your Hub calendar and contacts to your phone, Outlook or Thunderbird.
