What changes when you upgrade

  • Account limit: You can create more cPanel accounts.
  • cPanel license: Moving from Launch to Studio changes the license from Admin to Pro. Moving to Agency or higher changes it to Premier, which unlocks cPanel's custom branding.
  • Imunify360 tier: Moving from Studio or Launch to Agency or higher moves you from the "up to 30 users" tier to the "up to 250 users" tier.
  • Resources: Your VPS gets more vCPU, RAM, NVMe storage, and bandwidth.
  • Backups: Moving from Launch to Studio or higher adds daily automated backups with 7-day retention.

Your server, IP address, accounts, and settings stay the same. It's the same private VPS with more room.

When to upgrade

  • You're close to your account limit, or planning to migrate more clients than your limit allows.
  • Your server regularly runs at high load or memory, even after you've tuned your sites. See Server Is Slow or Sites Are Timing Out.
  • Disk usage is approaching your NVMe allowance.
  • You want to brand cPanel with your own logo (Agency and higher).

How to request an upgrade

  1. Open a support ticket.
  2. Tell us your current plan, the plan you want, and any times to avoid. Resizing a server can involve a short restart.
  3. We'll confirm the details and schedule the change, then let you know when it's done.
  4. After the upgrade, check WHM » Server Status » Server Information to confirm the new CPU and memory.

If you have billing questions about an upgrade, such as how charges are calculated partway through a billing period, ask in the same ticket.

Downgrading

Downgrades take a little more planning, because your server has to fit inside the smaller plan.

Before you request a downgrade

  1. Check your account count. In WHM » Account Functions » List Accounts, count every account, including suspended ones. You need to be at or below the new plan's limit.
  2. Check disk usage. Your total usage, including backups and logs, needs to fit comfortably within the new plan's NVMe storage.
  3. Remove what you don't need. Back up and terminate accounts you no longer host. Suspended accounts still count toward the limit.
  4. Review what you'll lose:
    • Moving from Agency or higher to Studio or Launch removes cPanel custom branding, and your clients will see standard cPanel branding again.
    • Moving from Studio to Launch removes the included daily backups. Consider adding CodeGuard.
    • Resources such as CPU and RAM go down, so make sure your busiest sites will still perform well.

How to request a downgrade

Open a ticket with your current plan and the plan you want. Reducing disk space on a server can be more involved than adding it, so we'll review your server and explain the steps and timing before we make any changes.

Pricing

Under our Reseller Client Protection Policy, renewal increases are capped at 5%, and we give you advance notice. Your plan price changes only when you change plans.

Still stuck? Open a ticket

Our U.S.-based support team is available 24/7. Open a support ticket from the Liberation Client Area and include your current plan, the plan you want, and your preferred timing. Tickets are private, so they are the safe place to share server details. Never post passwords in public forums or chats.
