Upgrade from Lite
- In the Client Area, open the service SiteLock is attached to and click Licenses and Addons.
- On the SiteLock - Lite panel, click Upgrade.
- Choose Find, Fix or Defend and a term, then check out.
Your site stays connected to the same SiteLock account, and the new features start once the order is paid. See SiteLock: What It Does and Which Plan You Need to compare plans.
Connect the WordPress plugin
SiteLock has a WordPress plugin that connects your site to your SiteLock account.
- Log in to SiteLock from the Client Area.
- Click Site Settings, then WordPress Plugin.
- Click Generate License Key and copy the key.
- In WordPress, install the SiteLock plugin (Plugins > Add New, search for "SiteLock"), activate it and enter the license key when asked.
Update FTP Credentials
Plans that clean malware from your files need to reach them. The Update FTP Credentials button on the SiteLock panel in the Client Area is where you enter an FTP account for SiteLock. If your site is hosted with us, create an FTP account in cPanel (Files > FTP Accounts) with access to your website folder and use it here. You don't need this for SiteLock Lite.
Common problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| SiteLock found malware | Don't panic, and don't delete files at random. On Fix or Defend, SiteLock removes known malware automatically; check the scan details to confirm. On Lite or Find, restore a clean backup (see CodeGuard: Restore Your Website, Files or Database if you have CodeGuard), update WordPress and all plugins, and change your passwords. Also see My email account or website was hacked: what to do right now. If you need help, open a support ticket. |
| A vulnerability was found | Update the plugin, theme or software it names. If there's no update, replace it with a maintained alternative. Then click Scan Now. |
| Google or a browser flags my site | Clean the site first, then request a review in Google Search Console (Security & Manual Actions > Security issues). SiteLock's blacklist monitoring shows when you're removed. |
| Scans fail or show errors | Make sure your site loads at the exact domain on your subscription. A firewall or bot protection (for example Cloudflare's Bot Fight Mode) can block SiteLock's scanner; allow it in your firewall settings. |
| Log in to SiteLock doesn't open | Allow pop-ups for our site and try again from the Client Area. |
| The Trust Seal doesn't show | Check you pasted the whole code, clear your site and browser cache, and make sure the domain in the code matches your site. |
| I want to cancel | Cancel in our Client Area (Request Cancellation on the service), not in SiteLock. SiteLock can't cancel subscriptions bought through us. |
