What are Stripes, and how do I use them?
Every email template is built from a descending hierarchy of elements. Stripes – horizontal bands that contain structures (rows), containers, and blocks – sit at the top of that hierarchy.
To add a stripe, click the "+" icon at the bottom-left corner of an existing stripe in the editor.
Each stripe can have a type: Header, Content, Footer, or Info area. You can set this manually in the "Message area" settings. Using different stripe types can be helpful for advanced layout adjustments.
Adjusting Stripes
To apply general settings for every stripe at once, go to the "Appearance" → "Stripes" menu and pick the stripe type you want to edit. From there you can:
- Set the text size
- Apply a background color, and a separate content background color
- Upload a background image
- Set the font color and link color
You can also customize each stripe individually if you have multiple content stripes but want different settings for each. Select the stripe you want to edit, and its settings menu opens on the left.
In the "Appearance" tab for a selected stripe, you can:
- Override the stripe's type
- Set the background color/image for the stripe and its content
- Configure a border around the content, either all at once or per side, including border color
- Hide the stripe on desktop or mobile view, if you don't want it shown in one of those versions
- Set the stripe's output type – HTML, AMPHTML, or both
In the "Data" tab, you can:
Configure the stripe as a Smart Element. Smart Elements let you automate email production – useful if you build multiple product cards or email digests. You configure them once and reuse them across campaigns.
In the "Conditions" tab, you can:
Apply Display Conditions, which dynamically change what content is shown to a given recipient based on whether a condition you set is met.
